Privacy policy
Last updated: 29 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information the Thatcher OS website collects, why, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect very little, we never sell it, and nothing on this site tracks you for advertising.
1. Who we are
Thatcher OS is run by Thatcher Associates Limited ("we", "us"), a recruitment business based in the UK. We are the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at privacy@thatcherassociates.com, or through our contact form.
2. What we collect
- When you contact us. The name, email address, agency name and message you type into the contact form. These come to John Thatcher by email so he can reply.
- When you map your market. The job title, place and sector you enter. These are used to count live vacancies, and are not linked to your name or email. If a search comes back unusually thin, we email ourselves the search terms and the counts (never who ran it) so we can improve the tool.
- When you score your agency. Nothing. Your answers are worked out in your own browser and never leave the page.
- When you use an "email this" button. It opens your own email program with the details filled in. Nothing is sent unless you press send there.
- Technical information. Like every website, our hosting provider records basic request details (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) in short-lived server logs, for security and to keep the site running.
3. How we use it
To answer your enquiry, to run and improve the free tools, to keep the site secure, and to meet our legal obligations. We do not use your information for automated decisions about you, and we will never sell it or share it for marketing.
4. Our lawful basis
Under UK GDPR we rely on our legitimate interests in answering people who contact us and in running a useful, secure website, and, where you ask about buying, on taking steps at your request before entering into a contract. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we weigh them against your rights.
5. Who helps us
We use a small number of trusted service providers, each bound to protect your data:
- Vercel hosts the website and its server functions, and counts visits through Vercel Web Analytics. It sets no cookies, keeps nothing in your browser and stores no IP address: each visit is recognised only by a code that is thrown away every 24 hours, so it cannot follow you from day to day or across other websites.
- Anthropic runs the chat on this site. What you type there is sent to it so it can answer. John sees the conversation only if you leave your details.
- Brevo delivers the contact-form email to us, and the emails we send you if you join the waitlist.
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces, so your browser contacts Google to fetch them, which shares your IP address with Google.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
6. International transfers
Some of these providers process data outside the UK, including in the United States and the European Union. Where they do, we rely on the safeguards UK law requires, such as adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.
7. How long we keep it
Contact-form enquiries are kept for as long as we are in conversation with you, and for up to two years afterwards unless you become a customer, when ordinary business-record rules apply. Server logs are kept by our host for a short period and then deleted. You can ask us to delete your details at any time.
8. Your rights
You have the right to see the personal data we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to ask for a copy to take elsewhere. Write to privacy@thatcherassociates.com and we will answer within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would appreciate the chance to put it right first.
9. Cookies
This site sets no cookies and runs no advertising or tracking; visits are counted without cookies, as described above. Our cookie policy explains this in full.
10. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
